31st Annual Green Race
It’s a whole new world.
The Narrows has been completely reshaped since the storm. The old race lines are gone, but new ones are waiting to be found, and after every good rain the Dries come alive.
So for the 31st Annual Green Race, we’re going back to the beginning.
“LIKE IT’S 1996”
Back then, nobody was running Go Left, much less Hot Left. There was no Flying Squirrel. Nobody was breaking five minutes let alone four. Racers were still figuring out what was possible.
Now we get to do it all over again!
Last year we had great water midweek, then barely enough to scrape down on race day. This year, we’re not putting everything on one day.
The entire month is your race window.
When the water comes up grab your POV camera and get your run.
Race the Dries.
Race the Short Course.
Race the legendary Green Race course for a chance at $1000 cash prize!
Film it. Submit it. Go fast.
Then on Saturday, November 7, we’re bringing everyone together at the first-ever competition on Taylor’s Wave in Woodfin NC.
Think Gigantic Mass Start Race, Jam Session Freestyle Competition, Colossal Loop Contest and Long Boat Attainment Race.
This one is for everybody, regardless of skill level.
After the rodeo, we’ll announce the 2026 Green Race winners and play all of the submitted race-run videos.
While we wait for dependable releases to return to the Green (which we feel real progress is being made), we’re going back to what this thing was built on:
Racing.
New lines.
Good friends.
And figuring out what is possible.

The Green Race Rodeo and Awards Party. We’re going christen the new Woodfin Wave with a series of fun competitions and cap it off with a watch party of the last month of race runs crowning a 2026 Green Race Champ!
The Green Race Rodeo is comprised of four events offering something for everyone. Gigantic Mass Start Race, Jam Session Freestyle Competition, Colossal Loop Contest and Long Boat Attainment Race.

Spectators
We ask all spectators to boat in. The parking lot at Taylor’s Wave is not complete and there is no parking at the Taylor’s Wave.
